- name a Drive for Supplies coordinator
- the Drive for Supplies coordinator
should work with the science resource teacher, science
teachers, social studies teachers, student service
learning coordinator, student government group, key
club, etc. (Email the name of the coordinator to the
Student Affairs Office)
- Materials Management will send
boxes, labels and tape toparticipating schools. The
boxes will be shipped to a Drive for Supplies Coordinator.
Additional packing supplies can be obtained by contacting
the Student Affairs Office
- schedule a day (or days) for each
class, team, or grade level to clean out their lockers,
backpacks, and/or desks
- educate and advertise about the
collection/recycling project to all students
- assign students to be in the halls
collecting supplies into containers
- assign students to stand by the
recycling cans to ensure that no trash is being thrown
into those containers and to check for usable supplies
- filled boxes from classes or halls
should be delivered to a a processing site
- check that supplies are in usable
condition (no clothing please)
- sort items into similar categories
- IMPORTANT - remove used pages from composition/spiral/notebooks!
- seal boxes
- label content of boxes and affix
the MCPS label (filled in with your school name)
- give Student Service Learning
credit forms to students who are collecting, sorting,
boxing, and labeling supplies (secondary level only)
- BEFORE the last day of school,
email the Student Affairs Office exactly how many
boxes need to be picked up and where the boxes are
located
- Materials Management staff will
pick up boxes from schools the at the beginning of
July. The Drive for Supplies coordinator should inform
the building service manager and office staff of the
exact location of these boxes of supplies.
