National Student Leadership Week

2000 | 2001 | 2002 | 2003 | 2004

April 22-28, 2001 - "R-E-S-P-E-C-T, find out what it means to me"

Schools sent in a variety of profiles on students who showed respect in a variety of ways...

"There are so many different kinds of respect. We must reach out to include those persons in our schools who are often left out, respecting the differences that make each person unique. With an increasingly diverse society, it is important that we respect others and their varied cultural, ethnic, and racial backgrounds. We must communicate and interact with our peers in respectful ways to maintain the free and open exchange of ideas that is so important for all citizens in a democratic society. We must also respect the planet on which we live and the precious environment of which we are all a part." Rocco Marano (Director, Department of Student Activities, NASC)
