Parent Guide to Special Education

 

Parents are critical, valuable partners in the special education process in Montgomery County Public Schools. This guide is designed to help parents understand how students may be identified for special education services, the types of services that MCPS offers, and the major laws and regulations that govern the delivery of special education services to students.

The Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) is comprised of parents, MCPS staff, and representatives of Montgomery County community groups that advocate for children with special needs and serve to advocate for, and advise, the Department of Special Education. Learn more
