Education Staffing Plan Committee is holding three
work sessions to review the FY 2008
Special Education Staffing Plan; receive
information regarding the FY 2009 MCPS budget, enrollment
projections, and anticipated special education program
needs; receive public input; and make recommendations
for priority improvements to be considered for the
FY 2009 budget.

Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) has updated
their
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) web
site. Information about the 2004 regulations, as well
as many other topics, may be found on this site. 10/14/06 - Special
Education at a Glance - This first edition includes a copy
of the Guide to Planning
and Assessing
School-Based Special Education
Programs, and provides in a single document, information
about the special education population at each MCPS school,
including enrollment, staffing, programs, and outcome
measures.
12/13/05 -
The Office of Curriculum and Instructional Programs has released their Frequently
Asked Questions Update #4, which addresses Grading and Reporting
for Special
Education students.
10/25/05 - Information on Requesting
Accommodations on College Board Tests is
available on the MCPS web site.
2/11/05 - In June 2003, the Special
Education Continuous Improvement Team (CIT) released
its Final
Report, Indicators of Effective Special Education Services.
In response to the recommendation in the CIT Final
report, MCPS has developed a document called State
of Special Education Fall 2004. It is the first
step toward future State of Special Education reports
that will be more closely aligned with the CIT Final
Report. The CIT
Final Report and the State of Special Education Fall
2004 are posted together to document these
first steps in the on-going process to improve
the
collection, analysis and reporting of special education data in Montgomery
County.
