Department Functions
On a continual basis we:
- Provide 24-hour security for Montgomery County Public Schools and school system assets
- Liaise with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies
- Coordinate and implement comprehensive safety and security programs for the school district
- Develop and implement security initiatives for closed-circuit television camera, visitor management, and access control systems

Mission
The Department of Systemwide Safety and Emergency Management is committed to promoting safe and secure environments for MCPS students and staff with the highest level of customer service.
To do so, we leverage technology as well as partner with the school community, public safety and law enforcement agencies.
Through these partnerships, we are able to provide support, resources, and training to all schools and facilities at MCPS.
Everything we do is aimed at working toward the common goal of success for every student.
