Models of Recycling
The Montgomery County Council, which has been encouraging an increase in recycling at all residences, businesses and institutions in the County, on Sept. 23 honored Arcola and Monocacy Elementary Schools for being the only two schools in the County to recycle at least 50 percent of their waste. Councilmember George Leventhal, chair of the Council Health and Human Services Committee, presented proclamations to the schools recognizing their achievements and leadership. At the ceremonies were, left to right: Randy Weddle and Lynne Zarate of the Montgomery County Public Schools Division of Maintenance; Gay Riggs of the Monocacy building services staff; Monocacy Principal Cynthia Duranko; Councilmember Leventhal; Arcola Principal Eric Wilson; and Carolyn McAllister and Charles Ogburn of the Arcola building services staff.
