Listed below are generic requirements
for some supporting services positions with Montgomery
County Public Schools. Some positions offer twelve-month,
eight hours per day employment, while others
offer ten-month employment, frequently requiring
less than eight hours per day. Please do not
confuse these general job requirements with the
specific advertised job vacancies that change
weekly.
— Some general
cleaning experience preferred.
BUS ATTENDANT — Completion
of 9th grade and some experience in working with
physically, mentally, and/or emotionally handicapped
children; enough physical strength and stamina
to help handicapped students on and off the bus,
lifting students when required.
BUS OPERATOR — Driver's
license held for at least five years, excellent
driving record, ability to complete training
needed to obtain a Maryland Commercial Class "B" license;
ability to pass a rigid physical examination,
including drug/alcohol test.
and — Applicants with
food preparation experience receive preference
in employment. Some positions require the
ability to cashier.
— Course
work in English (degree in English preferred)
and some experience involving English composition,
grammar, usage, mechanics, etc., preferred.
FOOD SERVICE SATELLITE
MANAGER — Some food preparation
experience preferred; ability to prepare accurate
reports and records. Must qualify on food service
satellite manager exam.
— 30 semester
hours of college and one year working with
children in structured situations or a two-year
combination of college and work experience
with children; knowledge of child development.
Substitute and temporary assignments possible.
Some positions require ability to lift, toilet
or restrain students.
— 30 semester
hours of college and one year working with
children in instructional situations. Experience
using computer applications, e.g., word processing,
spreadsheets, databases, E-mail and Internet.
Typing test (34 wpm).
— High
school graduate or equivalent with specialized
training and experience operating sound systems,
lighting systems and electronic instructional
equipment (video, slide tape, etc.).
— High school graduate
or equivalent with clerical experience. All
positions require typing (40 wpm); some require
bookkeeping. Preference for word processing.
From time to time, temporary assignments become
available.
— AA
in law enforcement or criminal justice desirable;
experience
involving student and/or public safety, conflict
resolution and investigative procedures.
— High school
graduate or equivalent; clerical and typing
experience; some experience with children
desirable; typing test (34 wpm). Computer
experience preferred.
