21st Century Learning for 21st Century Learners

Tips for success as an online learner: These simple strategies will help you get the most from your online learning studentexperience.

  1. Participate: Login every day, add to the discussions, ask questions, provide feedback, and collaborate with others. The more you put into the online course, the more you will get out of the experience.

  2. Communicate: Get in touch with your teacher as soon as you have a question or concern. If you are unsure of the direction you are going in, don't hesitate to get clarification from your teacher.

  3. Manage your Time: Set aside time each day to work on the online course. It can be very difficult to catch up if you fall behind in the course. Use the course calendar to help you plan your time.

  4. Accept Differences: Online learning is different from traditional learning. The bell does not determine when learning starts and stops. Not all lessons will be equal in length or difficulty.

  5. Learn to Use the Tools: A Learning Management System (LMS) is a set of tools used to provide an online classroom. Get to know the tools used to discuss, submit work, communicate, and test your understanding. The more familiar you are with the tools provided, the easier and more effective your online learning experience will be.

  6. Know What to Expect: The more you know about what will be required of you in an online course, the better able you will be to plan for success.
