Student Online Learning Course Registration:

In order to register, you need to complete the following process. Registration is not complete until the entire process has been completed. All courses have enrollment limitations. Early registration is recommended.

To Register for an online course:

1. Complete the Registration form found at this web link. [Select your course section from the list below BEFORE starting the Registration form.]
2. Print out the completed online form, and take it to your school. Have the form signed by the school principal AND school counselor.
3. Mail, fax, or hand deliver the completed and signed form, along with course payment of
   $310 .5 credit, Comprehensive Health and Wellness (course fee is pending Board of Education approval)
   $620 1.0 credit online Foundations of Technology (course fee is pending Board of Education approval)
   to the Student Online Learning office located in room 101 of the Board of Education Building at 2096 Gaither Rd., Rockville, MD 20850. [FAX: 301-670-8235. Checks should be made payable to MCPS.]
4. Sections will be filled on a first come, first served basis and parents will receive confirmation via email. Registration is not complete, until parents confirm receipt to the final registration email that we will send, once all registration materials and fees have been received.
5. Please note that refunds will not be issued for early registrants after May 1, in order to assure that we are able to provide May registrants with openings in our summer courses.

Our Summer 2008 online course offerings include:

• Foundations of Technology (FOT) - 1.0 credit, six (6) weeks, three (3) required face-to-face sessions.

Foundation of Technology (FOT): This course is offered over a six-week period and requires attendance at three face-to-face classes. Students who do not attend the face-to-face sessions will not receive credit for the course. The course provides 1 credit and satisfies the graduation requirement for technology education. Students may take the first half of this course, and receive .5 credits, only with confirmation from a school counselor to indicate that the student has already completed .5 credit in technology education. The Summer FOT will include an Honors course option. Students should be prepared to spend 3-5 hours per day working through the FOT, although Honors level participants should expect to spend 4-5 hours per day on course work.
