The Louise S. Walker Scholarship

The Montgomery County Public Schools Retirees Association (MCPSRA) awards scholarships toward the continuing education of any current MCPS staff member. This scholarship is given in memory of Louise Smith Walker, a teacher, principal and supervisor who retired from MCPS in 1968.

Any staff member currently employed by Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is eligible to apply. Scholarships will be awarded based on the applicant's educational goals and financial needs. The award may be used toward the cost of tuition, books, or other expenses. Application and information will be distributed to all MCPS facilities and school offices each spring.

Memorial Scholarships

The MCPSRA also awards memorial scholarships to help defray the costs of course work in a recognized educational program during Summer School.

Any Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) employee is eligible to apply.

The scholarships will be awarded based on the applicants’ educational goals and financial needs. The award may be used for tuition, books, or other expenses. Applications will be distributed to all MCPS facilities and offices each spring. Proof of registration and payment are required before funds can be disbursed.

The Dr. Thomas R. Peters memorial scholarship will be awarded. He served as a President of MCPSRA and died in October 2004.

The Albert Gibson memorial scholarship will be awarded. He was a member of the MCPSRA Board of Directors for years and died in 2006.

The Angie Goffredo memorial scholarship will be awarded. She was a member of the MCPSRA Board of Directors for years and died in 2010.
