What batteries can be recycled? Small rechargeable batteries like those found in walkie talkie, laptops, cell phones, etc. that are sealed, intact and have no leaks are recyclable. Some examples of recyclable batteries are Nickel Cadmium (NiCd), Lithium ion (Li) and Lead-acid.
How do I recycle these batteries?
PONY them to Richard Benjamin, SERT, Department of Facilities Management.
Are alkaline batteries recyclable?
Unfortunately they are not recyclable and should be placed in the trash.
How do I know what type of battery I have?
Batteries are usually marked with the type. If you are not sure what type of battery you have or have a larger battery (one that weighs more than one pound), please email recycling@mcpsmd.org for assistance.
