- Collaborative
Action Process (CAP)
CAP is a problem solving approach that addresses learning
and behavior challenges for individual students, groups
of students, classrooms, and schools by helping to identify
and resolve factors that create barriers to success.
- Sites Served: Gaithersburg Cluster
- Collaborative Action Process training was successfully
launched on 7/19/04 through 7/21/04! An average of
65 people were trained over the three days.
- Mental
Health Services
We have enhanced Mental Health Supports in
all schools; including improved access to school psychological
services, school counseling services, school social
work services, and focused therapeutic interventions.
These services are readily available via our partnerships
with the Department of Human Health Services, Linkages
to Learning, the Mental Health Association, and the
GUIDE youth services.

- Montgomery
County Police Department
Police Department will be providing after school programs
that will teach gang abatement programs and will provide
supervision during the critical after-school hours.

- Saturday School
Saturday School is a learning clinic that is open to
all students (1st through 12th grades). We are funding
enough tutors so that they will have smaller ratios
and no waiting list. This will allow them to assess
student needs individually and keep closer communication
with regular teachers.

- Stop
and Think
Stop and Think is a school-wide social skills curriculum
that teaches academic supporting behavior, social skills,
and conflict resolution skills to all children through
a universal language and school-wide consequences.

- Olweus
Bullying Prevention Program
The Olweus [pronounced Ol-VEY-us] Bullying Prevention
Program is a comprehensive, school-wide program designed
for use in elementary, middle, or junior high schools.
It’s goals are to reduce and prevent bullying
problems among school children and to improve peer relations
at school. The program has been found to reduce bullying
among children, improve the social climate of classrooms,
and reduce related antisocial behaviors, such as vandalism
and truancy.
