A child’s academic success is more likely
when that child is physically and mentally healthy, socially
well-adjusted, and living and learning in an environment
free of threats, violence, and fear. Our plan focuses
on providing the services and supports that are needed
to assure the health of our children so that they are
in the best environment and frame-of-mind to be able to
learn.
Montgomery County already has in place many alternatives
for services to help children and families in need.
Our plan is based on a simple concept ~ matching students
and families with these services they require. Therefore,
one key function of this grant is coordination and communication
-- coordination of the myriad groups that provide services,
communication among these groups, and communication with
the children and families that need these services.
The services provided are based on a continuum.
The base of the continuum is PRIMARY PREVENTION -- providing
the tools, information, and support to keep problems from
occurring. There are cases when prevention is not sufficient
and FOCUSED INTERVENTION is required and these services
will be available as needed. In addition, wrap-around
services will be available to provide INTENSIVE INTERVENTION
as the need dictates. Finally, in the most severe of cases,
CRISIS SUPPORT will be used to address the issues and
help the child/children with the greatest need. |
