Family Support and Parent Education

The Silver Spring Judy Center staff and our program partners offer case management, home visiting, counseling, and referrals to other agencies.  Parents can also access adult education classes (ESOL, GED) through Casa of Maryland or  Montgomery County Public Schools adult education program.  In addition, we offer parents day and evening meetings that address a variety of topics such as school readiness, children's behavior, child development, etc.

Parent-Child Activities

On Mondays and Wednesdays 2:00-4:00 p.m.  we offer "Play and Learn Time". Parents and children birth through five years old who are not yet enrolled in school can socialize, explore appropriate toys, complete arts and crafts projects, participate in circle time and language development activities.  Parent field trips are also part of our parent-child activities.

Early Care and Education

Silver Spring Judy Center programs include childcare, Head Start, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. The Judy Center offers area childcare providers staff development and networking opportunities.  Our staff also assists parents in finding quality childcare and applying for subsidies if needed, and applying for school programs.

Education Support

The Silver Spring Judy Center offers the Kindergarten Homework Club for kindergarteners and their parents, siblings or caregivers.  The homework club meets twice a week.  We also provide supplies and materials such as books, magnetic letters, workbooks and flash cards for families who need them.

Health Services

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services provides a nurse to ensure that all Judy Center children receive the necessary immunizations  and that families' health care needs are met.  Through the school year children receive dental, hearing and vision screenings.  The nurse provides health education lessons to children and addresses health-related topics during teacher in-services, parent workshops and home visits.

Developmental Screenings

Montgomery County Infants and Toddlers program provides screenings and intervention services for children form birth to three years of age who are experiencing a delay in development.  Montgomery County Public Schools, Child Find screens children from two years, nine months through four years of age.

All services provided by the Silver Spring Judy Center are free of cost to parents!
