Systems and strategies that are considered include a range of options such as gestures, sign language, language boards, electronic communication devices, and computer adaptations. Training the user, the school team, the vocational support staff, and the parents in the use of these systems is an integral part of the assistive technology consultation. InterACT and the local school team develop a participation plan as needed to ensure the use and integration of these systems and strategies in the curriculum.
As the local school team and parents learn to incorporate these systems and strategies into their daily routines, InterACT adjusts its involvement. Students' progress is monitored and InterACT may be contacted at any time for further consultation to meet students' changing needs.
