For Families
Welcome Families!
The early years of growth, from birth to five, are very important—and as a parent or caregiver, you are aware of just how quickly children grow! You know your child best. If you think your child may need a helping hand in their development and would like to have your child evaluated for early intervention services, we can help. Early help makes a difference!
What "family-centered" service means
In Montgomery County, early intervention services are offered by a collaboration between the Department of Health & Human Services and Montgomery County Public Schools. MCITP's goal is to provide a family-centered system of early intervention services designed to enhance a child’s potential to assure kindergarten readiness. "Family-centered" means that you have the key role in determining what services would be best for your child and your family, the outcomes that would be important for your child and family, when and how often your child and family receive services, and where the services are provided. Early intervention services can be provided anywhere in the community that would be the "natural environment" for your child--whether that is your home, your child care center, family day care home, early childhood programs and centers, or a community location where you and your child go for fun and support. Families are not charged a fee for participation in program services. If you have any concerns about your child's development or have questions, call us at 240-777-3997 to begin the intake process.
We hope this section of the website helps get you acquainted with all that MCITP has to offer your family.
