Who We Are

Our mission

To assist families with children between birth and kindergarten age with their efforts to address their children’s developmental and special needs.

We use a family-centered philosophy

We recognize that the family is the constant in a child’s life and that service systems and personnel must support, respect, encourage and enhance the strengths and expertise of the family. In addition, the family-centered approach is culturally sensitive and supportive of the differing individual needs of the family.

Principles of a family-centered practice

  1. The family is the focus of services.
  2. Each family defines what is in their own best interest.
  3. Each family forms partnerships with providers that are supportive of their needs, desires and expectations.
  4. Each family’s unique social, moral and cultural values must be respected.
  5. Each family needs to set the pace of their intervention.
  6. Each family needs to set the direction of their intervention.
  7. Each family has different strengths and different patterns of coping.

Child outcomes

Children have positive social-emotional skills (including social relationships). Children acquire and use knowledge and skills (including early language/communication). Children use appropriate behavior to meet their needs.
