Lida always found it difficult to watch some students who want to learn struggle and become increasingly frustrated. After completing two E-TIPS trainings on text-to speech software to support struggling readers and writers, she recognized opportunities to use these technologies with students at Bradley Hills ES. Starting with a second grade class, she had several struggling readers use a text reader program, Read: OutLoud, to better understand content from the curriculum. Lida immediately saw the impact technology can have on the students’ confidence. “Words cannot describe the smiles I witnessed when the children realized that they too could now participate in the assignment.” Lida continues to learn about and apply technology tools that can provide students greater confidence and success in the curriculum. “That's what E-TIPS is all about - Educators using Technology to Improve Performance!
