CPD SA-93 “Differentiated Writing Tools”
Explore technology tools that support prewriting skills including Inspiration, Word, text-to-speech, and word-prediction. This course meets for 5 3-hour sessions and provides 1 CPD credit (pending approval). Class starts January 26. See the PDO to sign up.
Bookshare.org provides the full text of books to eligible students
What is Bookshare?
Bookshare.org is a website repository of digital text for students with learning disabilities, visual impairments, and physical disabilities who cannot otherwise access printed text. This service is entirely free to all US students.
Read:OutLoud Bookshare Version
Members of Bookshare.org can download a free text reader called Read:OutLoud Bookshare Edition to have the books read aloud to them. This software is similar to the version of Read:OutLoud we’ve had in MCPS schools, but is FREE to eligible Bookshare members.
Have you visited the HIAT help blog?
All kinds of tech-tips are there. You might find, for example, a description of how to use voice notes in Word to support students who have trouble with writing and organization.
