The AT Cycle

AT Consideration

There are many ways to consider AT, but all professionals agree that the process of consideration should include:

  • A team approach
  • Consideration of a student's present level of performance
  • Consideration of the specific tasks a student needs to accomplish
Make sure that you focus the discussion on specifics rather than generalities. If a student is having difficulty reading, the team should work together to understand why. For example, perhaps the student has so much difficulty decoding grade-level text that he is unable to retain meaning from what he has read. Or, perhaps the student is not able to grasp the concepts of the reading material becuase it is written at a level that is too difficult for him. Your analysis of the problem will help drive the solution.
