Research shows that effective leaders model best practices and are open to sharing their practices with others. By leading your team to host a walkthrough, you are demonstrating leadership within your own team and for the visiting teachers. Facilitating the walkthrough entails coordination with the team of visitors, preparing your own team members, creating the schedule of visits, and planning for and/or leading an introduction/debrief session with the walkthrough participants. HIAT team members can assist you with sample schedules and agendas.
- The visiting teachers can be from your own school or an outside school
- The intended purpose of the peer visit is to observe UDL practices in action and to collaborate professionally
- You promote an atmosphere of openness with your team members to welcome the observers
