What is SIMS? Established in 1992, the School-based
Instructional Monitoring System (SIMS) provides school principals
and their staff with a tool to plan effectively, monitor
individual student progress and evaluate the total school
program. These files are collected centrally and distributed
to schools on a biweekly basis.
What is File Maker
Pro? Schools open SIMS data files using
File Maker Pro. File Maker Pro is a database program designed
to display and manipulate the information. File Maker Pro
is the recommended database program used by MCPS.
What is ESIMS, MSIMS
and HSIMS? ESIMS, MSIMS and HSIMS are a new way
for schools to look at SIMS data. All data is now combined
into one large relational database.
Where can I get my
schools SIMS files? The elementary school ESIMS file and
the user guide can be found in the "Download"
folder. For secondary schools contact your school's computer
IT Systems Specialist.Please
note access to SIMS data requires administrative approval.
To gain access to SIMS files contact your schools principal
for authorization. Once the Principal has approved the access,
the school's computer IT Systems Specialist will be able
to help you.
The MCPS Technical Support
Desk is available for calls from MCPS staff from
7AM to 5PM Monday-Friday when Central Offices are open.
