Message from the Director

The Internet is a great educational and social resource. But it also can be a dangerous territory for students to navigate. Parents who want help keeping their kids safe in the new world of cyberspace can attend a Parent Academy on CyberSafety on December 3.

“CyberSafety: Keeping Kids Safe on the Internet and Cell Phones,” will be held Thursday, December 3, from 7–8:30 p.m. at A. Mario Loiederman Middle School, 12701 Goodhill Road, Silver Spring.

This session will help parents identify the most common websites used by children, their content, and techniques for monitoring computer use. Parents also will learn about cyberbullying and sexting. The workshop is presented in collaboration with the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Montgomery County Police Department.

You can register online or download a printed registration form. And if you’d like more information, please feel free to call us at 301-517-5940.
