More than 8,000 students and their families participated in the excitement of the school system’s second annual Back-to-School Fair on Aug. 29. Crowds filled the parking lot at Montgomery County Public Schools’ central office location in Rockville to talk with MCPS staff, learn about community resources, and take home plenty of information to help parents support their children’s learning. Live performances, area celebrities, children’s activities, prize drawings, free school supplies, and snacks added to the excitement.
A hearty “Thank You!” to all of our business and community partners who donated goods and services valued at more than $80,000 to help make the fair a success.
And congratulations to 11 of our schools who were honored with Outstanding Volunteer Program awards for having the largest number of volunteer support hours for the 2008–2009 school year.
