Information About

Minority Business Enterprise

Our Mission

The Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) mission is to foster a positive working relationship with small and historically underutilized minority/female-owned professional services. Our primary goals are to--

  1. Increase the diversity and number of contracts and professional services providers that actively compete for construction services,
  2. Provide technical assistance to minority/female associations and businesses to increase their awareness of process and contract opportunities, and to
  3. Meet or exceed staff and Board of Education goals for minority participation in capital projects.

Procedures

The Division of Design and Construction follows the Minority Business Enterprise Procedures for State Funded Public School Construction Projects, approved and implemented by the Montgomery County Board of Education in 2008. These procedures, approved by the Interagency Commission on School Construction, are utilized as a condition for the receipt of State funds through the Public School Construction Program.
