Parent Information Meetings 2008
- Elementary Centers for the Highly Gifted: Open to current Grade 3 students
- Middle School Magnet/Centers Programs for the Highly Gifted: open to current Grade 5 students
- Middle School Magnet Consortium (MSMC) open to current Grade 5 students
- High School Magnet/Special Programs: open to current Grade 8 students as specified
- High School Consortia: Downcounty Consortium and Northeast Consortium: open to current Grade 8 students attending Consortia-area schools
Applications Workshops for ALL Grade Levels
Workshop for parents to receive hands-on assistance to complete an application for: the Elementary Highly Gifted Center Program; the middle school magnet programs at Roberto Clemente, Eastern, and Takoma Park middle schools; the Science, Mathematics, Computer Science Magnet Program at Montgomery Blair High School; the International Baccalaureate Magnet Program at Richard Montgomery High School; and the Whole School Magnet at Poolesville High School. No program information will be presented.

Elementary Center Programs for the Highly Gifted
The Elementary Center Programs for the Highly Gifted provide a learning environment for Grade 4 and Grade 5 students that enriches, accelerates, and extends the MCPS curriculum.
Information presented at these meetings is identical. If you are unable to attend the meeting designated for your center, you may attend another that is more convenient.

MS Magnet Application Programs
The MS Magnet Application Programs provide rigorous and engaging programs in Humanities and Communication and in Mathematics, Science, Computer Science. Students from across the county may apply to programs, by geographic cluster.

MS Magnet Consortium (MSMC) for Current Grade 5 Students
MCPS offers innovative and challenging curricula at three magnet middle schools. Students are selected through a Choice process. Parents can learn more about the programs in information meetings and open houses.
Each session will provide an overview of the programs and Choice process for the three middle schools in the consortium—Argyle Magnet School for Digital Design and Development, A. Mario Loiederman Magnet School for Creative and Performing Arts and Parkland Magnet School for Aerospace Technology.

For parents of students currently attending private/home schools. Please call the Division of Consortia Choice and Application Program Services at 301-592-2040 to receive detailed information about documents necessary for enrollment into MCPS. (This meeting is designed to enroll new students into MCPS who are interested in participating in the Choice process.) |

HS Consortia: Downcounty Consortium and Northeast Consortium
Downcounty Consortium (DCC) for Current Grade 8 students
The Downcounty Consortium (DCC) includes five high schools— Blair, Einstein, Kennedy, Northwood, and Wheaton. Grade 8 students who live within the DCC attendance area participate in the Choice process each fall where they rank order the high schools in order of interest based on the academy programs. Grade 8 students attending a DCC middle school on approved change of school assignment (transfer) may participate in Round Two of Choice .
Parents and Grade 8 students can learn more about high school option in information meetings and open houses. HS Options Meetings provide an overview of the Choice process, the consortium high schools, and special program options, including: countywide magnet application programs, Thomas Edison High School for Technology, Visual Arts Center, Communication Arts Program, Leadership Training Institute.

Northeast Consortium (NEC) for Current Grade 8 students
The Northeast Consortium (NEC) includes three high schools—Blake, Paint Branch, and Springbrook. Each campus offers a comprehensive high school curriculum plus a distinctive Signature Program. Students attending any of the five NEC middle schools may select a high school through the Choice process. Students attending a NEC middle school on approved change of school assignment (transfer) may participate in Round Two of Choice.
