Achievement Series, an exciting new technology that is facilitating scoring and reporting of Algebra and English 9 & 10 end of unit assessments and final exams, is being implemented in all MCPS middle and high schools this year.
Achievement Series is a Web-based assessment tool from Scantron. MCPS is using Achievement Series for the delivery of Algebra I A & B end of unit assessments and finals as well as Reading/English grade 9 & 10 finals for the 06-07 school year. The end of unit assessments and final exams for Algebra I A & B as well as the Reading/English final exams are all locally developed assessments by MCPS staff and are not purchased from Scantron.
Last year, Achievement Series was successfully piloted for the MCPS HSA remediation program in 25 high schools and special schools. Teachers used Achievement Series for the administration of the pre-assesments and post-assesmment in the algebra field test.

-Enables Automated scoring of assessments using paper answer sheets and scanner
-Provides instant test scoring
-Produces standards based reporting for student, class, and district
-Provides reports that are available from any computer connected to the Internet

-Local schools print answer sheets for assessments and distribute them to teachers
-Teachers score the weighted BCR/ECR test item and scan answer sheets
-Once the answer sheets are scanned, results are reported and can be viewed as reports
-Teachers and administrators log in to view reports at achievement series.com
-The Reports in the achievement series website do not include the weight for BCR/ECR items
-Additional reports with weight will be available in IMS (Instructional Management System)
