The
Editorial Help Desk supports communications and publishing
throughout MCPS by providing the following services:
Editing
and Proofreading—We conduct an editorial
review and make suggestions for improving a project’s
message. We monitor grammar, capitalization, punctuation,
and the devices that help readers find information—headings,
pagination, headers and footers, and the like.
We review and check the document to ensure that
any needed changes are made.
Help
Line—We accept editorial and grammar-related
questions from our customers and anyone in the
school system, either by phone or e-mail. We strive
to answer questions promptly.
Indexing—We
provide an indexing service to all those who require
maximum use of their publication. Documents that
should have an index include manuals, catalogs, and
many books.
Presentations—We
are available to speak to groups about editing their
journals and reports with a view to maintaining consistency
in grammar and editorial usage.
The Editorial Work Group, in collaboration
with the Office of the Superintendent, publishes
and distributes the MCPS Correspondence Manual.
