For mentors, TOT-02, “Mentoring for All: Strategies, Activities, and Assessment” is a required course for mentoring. The TOT-02 course is designed to supply various educators and personnel with the content knowledge and skills necessary to mentor a colleague. Three MSDE credits are awarded upon completion of course requirements. We offer summer, fall and spring sessions. Fall courses start in October, spring courses start in February, and summer courses are held in June and August.
The purpose of the TOT-02 course is to provide mentors with the skills necessary to effectively mentor a principal, teacher, supporting services, or central services employee. These include:
- a review of the research on new and experienced educator needs;
- a study of Stages of Concern as revealed in verbal discussion;
- an examination of historical roles of mentors and the knowledge and skills needed for mentoring, coaching, and collaboration;
- a study of various data collection methods during classroom peer visit/observations;
- a review of skills involved in pre and post conferences; and
- an examination of equity and multiculturalism strategies to close the achievement gap as one coaches and mentors.
During the course, participants will establish a network of collegial relationships and engage in problem solving to support professional growth and student learning and achievement.

ALL CPD COURSES HAVE A $55.00 REGISTRATION FEE FOR MCPS EMPLOYEES . This fee will be collected via payroll deduction for all regular MCPS employees.
