- Description: The focus in this lesson is on the use of self-monitoring strategies while reading. The strategies student use include re-reading, looking back at the pictures, reading on, and thinking about what they already know about the subject.
During the two day lesson, the teacher uses the model, coach, apply structure to teach self-monitoring strategies. The students meet with the teacher in a small group setting, do independent follow-up, and return to the small group session to debrief.
- Note: for the purposes of this taping, this two day lesson was filmed in one day.
