Montgomery County Public Schools
Technology Action Agenda for K-12

Background

In March 2005, the Montgomery County Commission for Women requested that a Girls in Information Technology Task Force be convened to address the national, state, and regional shortage of women entering IT related career fields. The task force was chaired by Montgomery County council member, Nancy Floreen, and membership included representation from business, government, and education. It was charged with reviewing the K-Postsecondary system in Montgomery County and recommending strategies for increasing the participation of girls in IT related programs. On August 24, 2006 the Girls in Information Technology Task Force presented their findings and recommendations in a report, Montgomery County Technology Action Agenda for K-12, to the Montgomery County Public Schools Board of Education. Recommendations will be strategically implemented, with annual reports to document progress.
