Montgomery County Public Schools accepts donations of computers, printers, and technology peripheral equipment. The goal is to use donated equipment to support the instructional program in schools, support operational functions in schools and offices, and/or to provide students with opportunities in maintenance and repair of technology. The Board of Education Administrative Regulation DJA-RB, Purchases of Materials and Equipment Using Non-appropriated Funds and Acceptance of Donated Items, requires that, "The condition of the item will not result in costs of time and money that will exceed the usefulness of the gift," and, "The cost of moving, dismantling, erecting, or connecting the item is not considered excessive by the appropriate MCPS specialist." Donated equipment becomes the property of Montgomery County Public Schools.

Donations are accepted in small or large quantities by the Montgomery County Students Information Technology Foundation, Inc. (MCSITF). MCSITF provides a unique partnership between Montgomery County businesses and Montgomery County Public Schools, dedicated to ensuring that instruction and training in information technology will be a practical and meaningful experience for students.  Additional information may be found at http://www.itfcareers.org.   For donations to MCSITF contact John Brewer, IT Foundation Specialist, at 301-929-6975, or via email at john_n_brewer_iii@mcpsmd.org
