Montgomery
County Public Schools accepts donations of computers, printers, and technology
peripheral equipment. The goal is to use donated equipment to support
the instructional program in schools, support operational functions in
schools and offices, and/or to provide students with opportunities in
maintenance and repair of technology. The Board of Education Administrative
Regulation DJA-RB, Purchases of Materials and Equipment Using Non-appropriated
Funds and Acceptance of Donated Items, requires that, "The condition
of the item will not result in costs of time and money that will exceed
the usefulness of the gift," and, "The cost of moving, dismantling,
erecting, or connecting the item is not considered excessive by the appropriate
MCPS specialist." Donated equipment becomes the property of Montgomery
County Public Schools. |
| A work group chaired by the Director of the Division of Field Operations, Office of Global Access Technology meets annually to review guidelines and procedures for accepting and deploying donated equipment. Work group members include representatives from Division of Career and Technology Education, Technology Service and Maintenance, IT Support Specialists, and the Montgomery County Business Round Table for Education. |
