MCPS Careers: Health Benefits

You have a variety of health benefit options and can research the one that will best meet your needs.
There are two open point-of-service (POS) plans. They offer “in-network” providers that you can see for co-pays of $5 or $10. If you choose to see a physician outside the network, you pay 20 percent of the visit. The employee share of the cost of these programs is 10 percent, which ranges from $25 (individual) to $68 (family) biweekly.
Also, there are three Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) options, in which you see physicians within their organization for routine health-related needs. The employee share of the cost of these programs is 5 percent, ranging from $8 (individual) to $31 (family) biweekly.
Dental, vision and prescription programs are also available.
You can earn $100 per year toward your out-of-pocket health expenses by taking advantage of the Flexible Spending Account.
