Please note that most of the interpreters speak more than two languages. When an interpreter is not available through the MCPS pool, LASU provides schools and offices with the following information:

We are unable to provide services for your request. We would suggest contacting the Montgomery County Government Volunteer Language Bank or using the Language Line.

Information about the Language Bank is available on line at https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/apps/lang/index.asp.

Information about Language Line is available at http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/lasu/index.aspx.

LASU also shares the pool of interpreters with Prince George’s County Public Schools Language Department and vice versa. In order to maintain a sufficient level of internal interpreter support, LASU has an ongoing job opening through the MCPS career webpage where people can apply to be a part-time interpreter. The LASU staff interview qualified candidates on a weekly basis to cover the increasing demand of interpretation services.
