MCPS Enrollment by Ethnic/Racial Group

This chart shows the trend in MCPS enrollment for each major ethnic and racial group. It shows that since 1970, total enrollment has first declined and then increased to nearly 140,000. The chart shows the growing ethnic diversity within MCPS. While white enrollment has remained steady or declined slightly, the total enrollment of other ethnic groups has greatly increased. As a result, no single ethnic group now comprises a majority of MCPS enrollment.
