Whom We Help
The Bilingual Assessment Team provides services to:
Preschoolers who come from
non-English language backgrounds.
Pre-Kindergarten students enrolled
in MCPS general education preschool programs who
qualify for ESOL services or have been dismissed from
ESOL less than one year prior to a referral.
Pre-Kindergarten students enrolled
in MCPS special education preschool programs who
come from non-English language backgrounds.
School-aged students who
qualify for ESOL services or have been dismissed from
ESOL less than one year prior to a referral.
English Language Learners with
Individualized Educational Programs who have been
exited from ESOL administratively under past procedures.
Students referred by the Residency
and International Admissions Office.
Private and religious school students are eligible
for BAT services if they qualify under any of the above
categories. Private religious school students are referred
in the first instance to the
Division of Placement and Assessment Services in
the Department of Special Education
