Referrals

The process for making referrals to the Bilingual Assessment Team is different for different populations. Specific procedures exist for referrals for preschool students who are referred by the Child Find Unit, Head Start or Pre-K programs, or early childhood special education programs or for school-aged (K-12) students.

A limited number of students comes each year to Montgomery County Public Schools through the International Student Admissions Office presenting evidence of serious special education needs. Unique procedures exist for providing an expedicious evaluation of these students' needs for a timely placement in an appropriate educational environment in accordance with federal and state laws.

All referrals must be made on MCPS form 336-11, referred for Special Education Screening.
