Students may continue the immersion experience at one of the middle school Foreign Language Immersion Programs. Immersion is a method of foreign language instruction in which the regular school curriculum is taught in another language. A two-period block of instruction enables students to enhance their language development as well as complete the social studies courses in French and Spanish and an arts course in Chinese.

Immersion: Chinese (Partial)

Potomac Elementary Immersion students interested in continuing the immersion program in middle school feed into Herbert Hoover Middle School. Admission to the Foreign Language Immersion Program is for incoming Grade 6 students who complete the corresponding immersion program at the elementary level. Students who did not participate in the elementary program may test into an immersion program if there is space available. Please contact the local school to find out about the application process and deadlines.
