Spray Plantation, Near the St. Mary's River, Maryland, l661
Master Spray owns 35 head of cattle and 33 hogs. These animals are not penned and run free on the land. They must find their own food. Cows are left with their horns. They need to protect themselves from wolves. The Spray family is too busy growing tobacco to bother tending their animals.

There are also about two dozen chickens on the plantation.
