DESCRIPTION AND RESOURCES

DESCRIPTION: The center is a 30,000 square foot state-of-the-art food production facility. It has three areas: central production facility, warehousing, and administration. Students visit sites where food and supplies for MCPS are received and stored, and the production process for many menu items and preplated meals that are distributed to the schools. Seven major areas of production are explored on the tour. These include the ingredient control area, the cook/chill area, salad/vegetable preparation area, bake center, pre/plate assembly area, product cooler, and warehousing. Schedule tour two weeks ahead, if possible.
