DESCRIPTION: The town is situated at the junction of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers where MD, VA, and WV meet. It is best known for the site of John Brown's raid in 1859. An audio-visual presentation is available at the "Harpers Ferry: A Place in Time." Museum and three different presentations are available at the John Brown Museum. Reservations are required for a guided tour by the park ranger and for a self-guided tour. Reservations must be made in writing at least 3 weeks in advance. Consider transportation by AMTRAK. Numerous museums, exhibits and trails explore the history of Harpers Ferry. Could visit nearby Kennedy House.
