DESCRIPTION: The Bureau of Engraving and printing is the US government's manufacturer of securities, some of which include currency and postage stamps. Visitors see the three main stages of producing currency in this high-tech facility which is a part of the Department of the Treasury. Tours can be personalized for specific objectives and can be conducted in any of five foreign languages: French, German, Japanese, Spanish, and Hebrew. October to March is the best time to visit. It is more crowded in peak season. This is the only printing house of its kind in the U.S. Tickets are required (at no cost). Ticket booth on 15th St. Visitor Center has displays and gift store. Information available for specific questions. Evening tours June 1 - Aug. 31, 4:00 -7:30 pm. Tours every ten minutes.
