DESCRIPTION: Streetcar fares for children have increased significantly from the 3 cents charged in the early 1900s, but thanks to the grassroots efforts of many dedicated volunteers, children can still ride a clanging, rocking streetcar complete with an authentically dressed conductor.
The museum's carhouse contains over a dozen vehicles from Baltimore's streetcar past, including one of the oldest horsecars to the very last car on the streets in 1963. The Visitors Center has displays and exhibits focusing on approximately 100 years of streetcar history. A slide show, outlining the role the street railways played in the development of Baltimore and the surrounding suburbs, is optional.
