DESCRIPTION:The first several stops of the bakery are pictorial exhibits providing general information about Anderson, its history and its products. Visitors to the world's largest pretzel bakery then walk on a specially designed and enclosed overhead catwalk to view the pretzel making process. Automatic mixers knead dough, machines twist or cut the dough into shapes, ovens bake the pretzels, and machines bag and box them. Students can observe employees monitoring these large machines as well as conducting tests by hand. After the tour, sample a free Bavarian Dutch pretzel. Also, fresh hot soft pretzels and drinks are sold in the snack area April through November. Retail store is available for purchasing pretzels. Soft pretzels available, $.65, tell in advance. A nearby site that could be visited are Candy Americana Museum.
