DESCRIPTION AND RESOURCES

DESCRIPTION:

The Alexandria Black History Resource Center, Northern Virginia's only African American history museum, interprets the traditions and culture of Alexandria's African American community. Located in the historic Parker-Gray District, part of the Center's collection is housed in the 1940 building that served as the first public library for the city's African American citizens. Guided tours of the Center include the exhibit "Bonds to Alexandria's Public Education 1865-1965." Walking tours of Black historic sites in Alexandria are also available.
