Beauty Parlor Day

Use the theme of a beauty parlor to extend your body parts unit.

We set up stations with

• manicures - glitter nail polish is a great motivator for girls who need to work on opening their hands which may normally be fisted.
• pedicures - we borrowed a couple of those vibrating foot massagers
• hair styling - we bought a comb for each student and used play curlers, glitter mouse, clips and bows, and real blow dryers.
• shaving - boys put shaving cream on their faces and "shaved" it off with tongue depressors

As you can imagine, these activities all afforded wonderful tactile stimulation experience for our many children with sensory integration needs. We took pictures of the kids with their hair in rollers to share later.
