About These Pages
The Preschool Zone started as a resource
for early childhood special educators. I envisioned it to be
a resource that targets this population specifically. Therefore,
I have been very careful to include information and links that
are specifically relevant to preschoolers with special needs
and not general information about disabilities and education.
Later, I became the web master for the Preschool Education Program's Web Page (Montgomery
County, Maryland). I immediately realized that the two web pages
were closely related. Therefore, as you browse these pages, you
will find that the links take you back and forth between these
two main sections. The main purpose for each is described below.
The Preschool Zone
- Resources for preschool special educators, no matter where
you teach. These include teaching ideas, research articles and
technology resources. You know you are in the Preschool Zone
when you see
bullets.
The Preschool Education Home
Page
- Information about this non categorical program in Montgomery
County, Maryland, as well as resources for teachers and parents
in the program. You know you are in the PEP page when you see
bullets.
Teachers with computer know-how are rare, but becoming more
common. Teachers with time and resources to implement great ideas
using technology in the classroom are very scarce, and while
the technology may eventually be available, time will always
be a roadblock. Therefore, I think teachers should find as many
ways as possible to share their efforts on the computer. I encourage
you to send in your great ideas so that I can add them
to these pages. Send email to Linda Bastiani (Linda_Bastiani@mcps.k12.md.us)
