 Skycroft Outdoor
Education Center
 kycroft is located on South Mountain near Middletown in Frederick County.
The property is near the Washington Monument State Park and offers an
abundance of Civil War history including being the site of the Battle
of South Mountain. Skycroft provides a picturesque setting for many exciting 
study areas including a mapping course for orienteering and confidence
course activities, for use by teachers who have participated in the Confidence
Course Trainer's Workshop (EE-06). Skycroft boasts wonderfully diverse
habitats for ecological, wildlife and forest studies and activities. Watershed
study is not easily accessible due to elevation although a pond is available
a short distance from the center.  All activities normally done during
a student's residential experience are available at Skycroft. The site
also provides ample indoor space for evening activities and provides great
astronomy options for the evening.
