Reminders and Information
-
If school is cancelled or we have
a two-hour delayed opening, the trip will be rescheduled for a later
date. As soon as the outdoor education office lets us know of the
new date, we will notify students.
-
Students will need to be transported
to school on day of departure with their belongings. Bus drivers will
not let kids on the bus with luggage. If you need to drop off their
luggage early and have the students ride the bus, please bring the
luggage to the main office and have them page someone from the outdoor
ed team.
-
Please clearly mark all belongings
and supervise the items you child is packing. DO NOT send expensive
cameras, binocular, clothing, shoes, etc. with them. Older, comfortable
clothing is best. If using trash bags, mark them in some manner to
help students recognize them easily.
-
Temperature can be as much as 10
to 15 degrees cooler in the mountains. Students should dress in layers
and have plenty of warm socks, long underwear, gloves, hat, etc. Rain
gear is a MUST. Two pair of shoes is recommended - one pair kept in
reserve for "dry" feet in camp and around the cabins. Unless there
is severe weather with high winds, we will be spending the majority
of time outside -- the experience will be much more pleasant if students
are dressed for it. We will be returning from (site)_____ as close
to 1 p.m. as we can on (day)____. Please have arrangements to promptly
pick up your child or carpool with a friend or neighbor. Everyone,
including the teachers, will be tired at this point.
-
Medications need to be brought to
school on the day of departure. A medical form in order for us to
administer them, must accompany all medications. Ms./Mr. _____________
will be collecting and arranging for the transportation of medication
to camp. Students who need inhalers should notify Ms./Mr. ____________
so we can make sure they are on the hike-in with us. Please make us
aware of food allergies if you haven't already done so.
