Sample - Volunteer Information

Thank you for making Outdoor education a success at Key Middle school. Your help is greatly appreciated. Here are some notes regarding your responsibilities at camp.

  1. On Wednesday morning, parents are needed to ride the student buses or follow the luggage to the smith center, some parents are need to hike into camp with the students and teachers while others are need to help unload the luggage buses.
  2. When students are in their cabins, they will be supervised by their parents. On arriving at camp, students will need help getting unpacked and settled in their cabins. Check the schedule for times you need to be in the cabins. When students are in their cabins, parents should be there also.
  3. While in the cabins, students should not run, climb across the top of bunks, yell, or be unsupervised. No student is allowed to have food, medicine, electronic devices, or weapons. A bunk "seating" chart will be for parent use.
  4. All parents are asked to supervise a group of students on Wednesday from 3:45 to 4:45 pm. Activities may include, basketball, kickball, gimp. Gods eye and board games. Please let MR. Atwell know which activity you would like to supervise.
  5. Parents are welcome to assist in instructional activities. Check the activities list for the time and location of the group you would like to help and let Mr. Atwell know your choice.
  6. Parents will be assigned to one of the following cabins: Black-eyed Susan, Baltimore Checkerspot, Striped Bass, or Baltimore Oriole. Cabin assignments will be made Wednesday at Key.
  7. Be a good role model by demonstrating appropriate conduct, language, and dress. Avoid horseplay such as wrestling or lifting students. MCPS standard of conduct apply.
  8. Supervise students in sleeping quarters and dining hall and help them establish respect for others, cooperation in use of facilities, and proper care of building and grounds.
